Profession of dentist: where to study, how to enter and prepare for exams - 1

The Prague Education Center's program was specially designed for applicants seeking admission to medical specialties. From the very first days of the course, applicants are intensively studying the Czech language, specialized terminology and preparing for the entrance exams to medical faculties.

It is often difficult for medical professionals to realize that their profession is one of the most sought-after in the world. Sometimes it is necessary to relocate to realize this. At the moment there are more than 3200 medical specialists working in the Czech Republic who received their diplomas abroad. Most of all such doctors come from Slovakia, Russia, Ukraine, Belarus and Poland.

The profession of dentist has been and remains one of the most demanded specialties not only in the Czech Republic, but also in the whole world. Every year thousands of applicants apply to leading Czech universities in the hope of getting free quality education in the field of medicine, and dentistry in particular. There are a number of reasons to explain such high popularity among school leavers wishing to study this particular medical specialty:

  • First of all, studying at a medical university is not divided into the usual already for all stages of bachelor's and master's degree. In order to become a practicing doctor, you must immediately apply for a master's program, and, unlike another equally popular specialty "General Medicine", training in "Dentistry" lasts 5 years, not 6.
  • In addition, graduates of the specialty "Dentistry" do not need to undergo any additional procedures after graduation. Those 3-4 years that doctors of general direction spend on preparation for the mandatory certification, dentists use for real professional activity and the development of an extensive base of clients.
  • At the same time, the monthly salary of a newly graduated dentist in the Czech Republic is 36,000 CZK. Often young doctors immediately after graduation open a private practice and thereby increase their income several times.
  • In addition, the title of MDDr., which students receive after successfully passing the final exam, allows the graduate to practice not only in the Czech Republic, but throughout Europe. By the way, in neighboring Germany, the monthly salary of a young specialist exceeds 3000 euros.

Work in the Czech Republic medics desired by many students from CIS countries. But before getting the title of doctor of dentistry, it is necessary to pass a serious selection in the form of entrance examinations in one of the Czech universities. Where you can get training in the specialty "Dentistry" and what exams you should start preparing for now, we will tell you below.

The tooth is the only part of the human body that is incapable of self-repair. And tooth enamel is the hardest tissue produced by the body.

Charles University

Profession of dentist: where to study, how to enter and prepare for exams - 2

1st Faculty of Medicine

The 1st Medical Faculty of Charles University is the dream of most people who come to the Czech Republic for higher medical education. The main advantage of this faculty is the possibility for students of the "Dentistry" department to immediately concentrate all their energies on the study of specialized subjects:

  • oral pathology
  • periodontology
  • oral surgery
  • immunology in dentistry, etc.

For foreigners a Czech language course is specially introduced, where complex medical terminology is discussed. It is worth paying attention to the fact that Charles University accepts students with knowledge of Czech at the C1 level.

An important part of the curriculum is also the active practice of students from the 1st days of training, which is especially pleasing for future dentists.

The quality and prestige of education at the 1st Faculty of Medicine of Charles University make it perhaps the most desirable place of study among applicants. Last year, for example, 943 applicants applied to the Master's program "Dentistry" at the oldest university in the Czech Republic, of which only 46 were accepted.

How to prepare for admission?

The competition for a medical specialty at any of the above universities in the Czech Republic is quite high, often only 8-10% of applicants enter the chosen university at the first attempt. This is why Prague Education Center strongly recommends that you start actively preparing now to enter such a popular European specialty as dentistry. Particular attention should be paid to physics, as often children from CIS countries planning to enter the medical profession forget about the need to take a test in this subject and prepare only for biology and chemistry.

Currently, all medical faculties require foreign applicants to have at least C1 level of Czech (more information about language levels). It is important to choose the right preparatory courses where you can achieve high language skills, prepare for entrance exams and learn the profile terminology in one academic year.

The Prague Education Center's curriculum and program of major subjects has been specially designed for applicants seeking admission to medical specialties. From the very first days of the course, the students are intensively studying the Czech language, major terminology and preparing for the university entrance exams.
