Thanks to cooperation with corporations, they occupy important middle and senior management positions. The Faculty of Economics focuses on the development of modern projects and internationalization (study programs in English and joint study programs with foreign universities). You can study business, management and business economics, accounting or economic informatics. Students receive a general economic and managerial basis, as well as acquire professional communication skills in English at the B1 level.

Faculty of Fisheries and Water Resources Protection

The youngest and the smallest faculty, the annual enrollment for the first year is slightly more than 100 applicants. The competition is 1.5 people per place, enrollment is about 75%. The training is conducted in Czech and English, knowledge of both languages is mandatory for admission to master's or postgraduate studies. Graduates receive the specialty of an expert in the field of fishing, water toxicology, biology and agriculture.

Faculty of Philosophy

The faculty trains researchers, as well as secondary school teachers. Students can study history, archaeology, archives, aesthetics, European studies, art history, Germanic studies or Roman studies. In fact, the training at this faculty is too diverse to be limited to the name "philosophy". It trains future historians, archaeologists, philologists of different language groups, art historians, media workers, specialists in culture and education. The faculty consists of 10 institutes (more than 20 departments). Every year 300-360 applicants come here, despite a rather high competition -1.8 people per place. Languages of instruction: Czech, English, German.

Faculty of Education

It is the largest faculty with more than 2,000 students. The faculty is based on more than 60 years of tradition of pedagogical education in the South Bohemian region. Students can choose a specialty with a specialization in information technology, foreign languages, physical education, ecology or even psychology. It graduates primary school teachers and subject teachers in 17 specialties, including those that are not quite "school". For example, there is a department of art therapy and social pedagogy. Specialists of this faculty are in demand in the labor market, they are not threatened with unemployment, which affects the competition — 2-3 people per place. The training is conducted in Czech, future philologists hone their foreign language skills additionally. If desired, upon completion of training, you can get a corresponding certificate confirming a high level of language proficiency.

Faculty of Natural Sciences

A broad-profile faculty, whose graduates receive a job offer even before receiving a diploma. It is not surprising, because not only future teachers are trained here, but also specialists in biophysics, applied mathematics, clinical and experimental biology, parasitology, and mechatronics. Students have the opportunity to use the equipped laboratories of the University of South Bohemian, which allows them to quickly consolidate theory in practice. The admission rate to this faculty is about 75% with a competition of 1.5 people per place. The languages of instruction are Czech and English.

Faculty of Theology

The doors of this faculty have been opened to the future clergy, experts in religion, social educators, theologian journalists and experts in a competent approach to charity. Despite the novelty of the specialty, it is quite in demand, the competition is 1.4 people per place. The training is conducted only in Czech, and the level of language proficiency at admission must be high, otherwise it will not be possible to master even the basics of core subjects.

Faculty of Health and Social Sciences

The second largest faculty of the University of South Bohemian is one of the few universities in the Czech Republic that combines health and society issues. Students study areas such as rehabilitation, health care, social work or nursing. The faculty does not graduate doctors, its specialization is public health protection, social work, social and psychological assistance to various segments of the population. Graduates can work as a mid-level medical staff (nurse, paramedic) or assist doctors. Enrollment is 72-76%, 800-900 applicants are recruited for the first year.

Agriculture

Faculty, which guarantees trouble-free employment in state cadastres, agricultural institutions, nature reserves, forestry. Also, specialists with a diploma of the Faculty of Agriculture are in demand in research organizations for plant breeding, in the field of animal husbandry and landscape architecture. The competition is big — 2 people per place, the language of instruction is only Czech.

What an applicant needs to know

Admission of documents to Czech universities takes place earlier than in educational institutions of the CIS. The admission committee of the University in Budejovice accepts applications until the end of March. Too late — your application will not be considered, even if you are a future Nobel laureate and gold medalist. Applications are accepted by e-mail, so the excuses "did not have time" are not suitable.

Important! According to the competition of certificates (without passing entrance exams), you can enter the economic, pedagogical and agricultural faculties, as well as the specialties of fish farming and water protection. The other faculties will have to take tests. A prerequisite is the presence of a language certificate of at least B2. With other equal indicators (average certification score, grades in specialized subjects), the advantage will be given to the applicant with a higher level of proficiency in the national language.

Language requirements

If you want to study for free, then you cannot do without knowledge of the Czech language. And not for communication, but for mastering the mandatory program. Self-study and a tutor are unlikely to help you learn the language in the right volume, especially since specialized terms are also included in the mandatory language base. And the certificate of category B1 and higher required for admission to the South Bohemian University is issued only by certified language courses. So, if guarantees are needed, this is the only option.

Requirements for documents

All documents submitted for admission must be nostrified, that is, the authenticity of the certificate (diploma) must be confirmed by the Czech Department of Education.

Entrance exams

If you choose a specialty that is not accepted by the certificate competition, then get ready for testing. Moreover, in several subjects at the same time, since the exam takes place in one stage. The questionnaire contains blocks of the "question — 5 answers" type. Your task is to specify the correct one, 1 point is awarded for it. Mistakes are penalized, so it's better not to answer than to put a "tick" in the wrong place.
